Sunday: day one

As the students arrived, not bothered by the rain, they quickly started getting used to their new routines, speaking English always and everywhere! From fun icebreaker games to the first group activities, their excitement is already clear. The energy they bring creates a great mood for a week full of joy, laughter, and unforgettable experiences! In the evening, we played the ‘First Meeting Games’, and they began to open up even more — showing not just their language skills, but also their personalities, curiosity, and willingness to connect.

Monday: day two

It’s only the second day of the English Course here in Rotselaar, but the students’ English has already improved remarkably. Their confidence is growing by the hour. We played the first match of the volleyball competition, and Mr. Myerson’s class secured a solid win, setting the tone for the games to come. In the afternoon, we held our very first singing session; the students were enthusiastic and sang with confidence, despite it being their first time. The group jumped in with such energy and joy that it felt like our tenth singing session, not our first. Later, we played the “Wonderful Word Games,” a highlight of the day. The students showed creativity, teamwork, and an ever-expanding vocabulary. The weather was slightly better than yesterday: some morning rain gave way to sunshine later in the day, which lifted everyone’s spirits. It was a rewarding and lively day, full of learning, laughter, and new friendships!

Tuesday: day three

What an amazing day! Ms Boddaert’s class played a fantastic volleyball match and came out as winners. The students were especially happy to be speaking English all day, not just in conversation during the breaks, but also through classroom activities focused on grammar, vocabulary, and core language skills. Whether they were reviewing verb tenses, expanding their word banks, or sharpening their listening and speaking abilities, they embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. It’s great to see them having fun and learning at the same time. They’ve picked up new words without even noticing! In the evening, we played a game called “Trip Around the World,” where each team visited different countries through fun challenges. Laughter, teamwork, and curiosity filled the air. What a perfect day!

Wednesday: day four

We’re already over halfway through the course. Time flies when you’re having fun! This morning, the semi-final of the volleyball competition brought lots of excitement, with Ms Boroudati’s class taking the win after a great match full of team spirit and determination. Later on, we gathered for class pictures, which is always a fun moment. There was plenty of laughter, funny poses, and memories captured forever. Throughout the day, students continued learning and speaking English with confidence. It’s wonderful to see how far they’ve come, picking up new vocabulary while having fun. One of the highlights were the costumes; students loved dressing up in silly, creative costumes. From Hawaians to animals, everyone got into the spirit and enjoyed taking playful photos together. Days like this remind us how fun learning can be!

Thursday: day five

Thursday is already the last full day at Ruysschaert… Luckily, it was a memorable one! The morning kicked off with the thrilling final of the volleyball competition, where Ms Boddaert’s class took the win. The whole group cheered with pride and excitement. Later, we had a great time taking the group picture. Throughout the day, students continued making real progress in English.
The singing session was another highlight, especially given Ms. Boddaert’s enthusiasm and Mr. Myerson’s piano skills!
To end this amazing day, we gathered for a flabbergasting talent show! Students expressed themselves through music, dance, and piano with incredible creativity. It was a magical and artistic way to close out the week.
