  • We expect pupils to arrive between 10h30 and 11h30. On arrival you’ll receive the first practical information. Then you can take your luggage to your room and make yourself at home. If you still have time, feel free to get to know the other participants.
  • At noon the director warmly welcomes everybody, parents and pupils, to the opening session, explains the arrangements and calls out the pupils’ names so that they can join their class
  • Then comes the official start of the course.
  • We start with the midday meal followed by the tests and the first lesson.

Monday: day 2

Yesterday, ninety-four students left their homes to begin a six-day English course. The teachers and assistants had been working since the day before to ensure the students would feel as welcome as possible.

After a bit of time to unpack and settle in, the students went straight to lunch before starting their first lesson. The rest of the day flew by, filled with classes and breaks. By the time they gathered for dinner at the restaurant, we could already see a clear change in their behaviour, from the hesitation of the first class to the growing confidence by the end of the day.
We ended the day with a study session and the evening games. Last night’s activity was the traditional “meeting games” night. The students formed teams and challenged each other to four sporty duels. At 9.30 p.m. most students went to bed tired, but satisfied, except for the football fanatics who had to endure watching their favourite team lose against Chelsea. Better luck next time, PSG.

Tuesday: day 3

Yesterday was our first full day at Ruysschaert! The students enjoyed a healthy breakfast before starting their lessons. After a few hours of class and some well-deserved breaks, they had lunch to recharge before taking part in dodgeball and football competitions. We’ll find out which class is winning at the end of the week!

Next came the singing session, led by our enthusiastic teacher Mr. Myerson. Two students arrived late, but he let it slide, for now …  After a few more lessons and a study session, the students had another long break to relax. Some chose to rest, others played games, and a few joined another football competition organized by one of the assistants.

After dinner, they had one final study session before ending the day with the evening games. Last night’s activity was The Wonderful Word Games; a fun and energetic way to wrap up a busy day!

Wednesday: day 4

The third day was full of energy and excitement for the students at Ruysschaert! We celebrated a joyful birthday during lunchtime, filling the air with smiles and song.

The afternoon kicked off with thrilling football and dodgeball competitions, and ended with a basketball match full of team spirit and unforgettable moments.

In the evening, creativity took the spotlight as students were invited to turn the English language into art through crafting and colouring activities.

A perfect mix of fun, friendship, and learning!

Thursday: day 5

After yesterday’s lessons, the students swapped the classroom for the bowling alley. With strikes, spares, and enthusiastic cheers, the atmosphere was buzzing. For some, it was a brand-new experience; for others, a chance to show off their skills, but everyone embraced the challenge and had a great time together.

Later in the evening, the energy didn’t fade. The school transformed into a hub of friendly competition, with basketball matches, table tennis rallies, and strategic board games taking place across campus. Whether bouncing a ball or planning their next move, students showed real focus and team spirit.

From start to finish, the day was all about connection, challenge, and creating shared memories — the kind that stick long after the week is over.
