Welcome to the blog of our English Course in Maredsous

Sunday it’s the first day of our English Course in Maredsous. We’re looking forward to meeting all of our students and to spending an excellent week together! Believe us, it’ll be an incredible adventure. With one clear rule: we talk English always and everywhere!

Are you ready for the start of your week with Ruysschaert? You’ll find all the practical information about the English Course via the personal link you’ve received by email. Just to make sure:

  • We expect pupils to arrive between 10h30 and 11h30. On arrival you’ll receive the first practical information. Then you can take your luggage to your room and make yourself at home. If you still have time, feel free to get to know the other participants.
  • At noon the director warmly welcomes everybody, parents and pupils, to the opening session, explains the arrangements and calls out the pupils’ names so that they can join their class
  • Then comes the official start of the course.
  • We start with the midday meal followed by the tests and the first lesson.

See you soon!

Day one: Sunday

Sunday saw us welcome a fantastic group of students to Maredsous. We spent a brisk but beautiful day getting to know each other, exploring the campus and diving head first into this immersive English experience. In the evening we wrapped up with our marvelous meeting games before heading off to a well-deserved beauty sleep, ready to start fresh in the morning.  We can’t wait to see what this week has in store for us!

Day two: Monday

Monday brought us a lovely day, full of learning and joy. While we all try our absolute best to speak English always and everywhere, we keep up the energy with sports activities and competitions. The start of our volleyball competition saw our first classes deliver amazing feats of athleticism and coordination. In the evening we played our wonderful word games, in mixed groups with students from every class. We quickly saw everyone develop an extra dose of team spirit as we fought for points, and we’ll keep that atmosphere going as we learn as much as we possibly can!

Day three: Tuesday

We can’t believe Tuesday has come and gone already, how time flies! As we continue to rack up the intensity in our quest for English proficiency, we also made time for sports, games and some wonderful creativity. Classes unleashed their talent in the evening activity as they brought scenes from the English-speaking world to life in our Greatest Artist Game. All while speaking the language of Shakespeare of course!

Day four: Wednesday

On Wednesday we take class pictures! We dressed to the nines and looked like tens as we gathered to capture our lovely classes on film. Classes continued and our students are getting ever closer to sounding like real Brits. In the evening we capped off our day by either cosying up for our Halloween movie night, or participating in our amazing competitions where brains and bodies were put to the test. Now we can only wonder how Thursday can ever top this!

Day five: Thursday

Thursdays are always terrific, but especially at our English course! We continued honing our skills and knowledge in class, while exercising vigorously outside of it. A strong mind in a healthy body may well have been invented here in Maredsous! In the evening we all attended our amazing talent show, where students showed off their stupendous skills,  calm confidence and intrepid improvisation. As the night fell we awarded our week’s competition winners and went to bed, ready for a wonderful Friday.
