Day one: Sunday

The big day has finally arrived! After weeks of anticipation, suitcases are unpacked and the adventure may begin. Any nervousness has quickly vanished thanks to the warm welcome of our teachers. We also had our first shared mealwhich is a perfect opportunity to practice our everyday vocabulary. Tonight, through icebreaking games, hesitant smiles will rapidly turn into friendships. Surrounded by great facilities and supportive teachers, it is clear that this week will create massive language progress and unforgettable memories.

Day two: Monday

Monday has been an incredible day of full English immersion here at Maredsous! First, new classes; this morning, students were moved into their permanent class with potentially a new teacher and classmates to help them focus on setting their personal English goals for the week. Then, one of our favorite Ruysschaert traditions, the singing session that helped everyone warm up their voice and came together to sing in English only! We also had our first part of the volleyball tournament where the students showed great team spirit, communication and fair play. Finally, tonight’s event is the Wonderful Word Games during which students will challenge their vocabulary and creativity through a series of fun, fast-paced language games.

Day three: Tuesday

Energy levels are high on campus as the competitive spirit takes over for both outdoor and evening strategic games! The ongoing volleyball tournament advanced with crucial matches and great team spirit. Students spent plenty of time outside competing in various active group sports. Finally, the day concluded with a lively mix of energetic outdoor challenges and strategic card games. So, after hours of deep mental focus in the classroom, the students perfectly balanced their hard work with high energy games to give their brain a break and keep their motivation high to continue to talk in English.

Day four: Wednesday

Wednesday was a wonderful mix of creativity, teamwork and high energy across the camp! We started our day by looking our absolute best for the class pictures, capturing wonderful group memories and bright smiles that will last a lifetime. The creative energy kept flowing into our workshops, where students turned into culinary experts during a hands-on cooking session and then unleashed their inner designers to style unique pieces in the fashion workshop. After a day filled with making, designing and learning, most of the students gathered for a cozy moving night to unwind.

Day five: Thursday

Today marks the turning point of our language immersion week and the campus is buzzing with fluent conversations, high energy and plenty of laughter. After a last session of studying in class, the curtains opened for the highlight of the week: the legendary Ruysschaert’s Got Talent Show! Performed entirely in our target language, the courage and creativity on display tonight were absolutely breathtaking. There were beautiful singing performances, a high-energy, haw dropping juggling routine from a diabolo master and a stunning piano performance that gave everyone goosebumps. Finally, the students enjoyed some well-deserved free time. This gave everyone the perfect opportunity to relax before spending a final night together on campus.
