English Course Tournai: 7-12 July

-

Welcome to the blog of our English Course in Tournai.

Sunday: day 1

Sunday it's the first day of our English Course in Tournai. We're looking forward to meeting all of our students and to spending an excellent week together! Believe us, it’ll be an incredible adventure. With one clear rule: we talk English always and everywhere!

Are you ready for the start of your week with Ruysschaert? You'll find all the practical information about the English Course via the personal link you've received by email. Just to make sure:

  • We expect pupils to arrive between 10h15 and 11h30. On arrival you'll receive the first practical information. Then you can take your luggage to your room and  make yourself at home. If you still have time, feel free to get to know the other participants.
  • At noon the director warmly welcomes everybody, parents and pupils, to the opening session, explains the arrangements and calls out the pupils’ names so that they can join their class.
  • Then comes the official start of the course.
  • We start with lunch followed by the tests and the first lesson.

See you soon!

PS: Are you curious to see how it all plans out on our language course? We post photos and videos on our Facebook & Instagram page and our blog every day so that we can keep you up-to-date with our activities. Go follow us @ruysschaertlanguageacademy ! We’ll post the first pictures from tomorrow!

Monday: day 2

The sun may not have been shining, but the smiles on the faces of our new group of students sure lit up the sky. As we welcomed both them and parents, information was exchanged and everyone was assured that it would be a good week. After an entire day of lessons, specifically designed to gauge the level of the students in order to put them in the best possible group, it was time for the meeting games. Forming words with their body, playing Chinese football, a miniature form of karaoke, every game felt like a true bonding experience. On to day 2!

Tuesday: day 3

Yesterday our students went off to their respective new groups and potential new friends, based on the talents and strengths that the teachers uncovered on the first day, like hidden gems waiting to be found. After an intense morning of intellectual stimulation, some classes had their football competition matches and these were fiery, as if they wanted to mentally prepare themselves for the upcoming European Championship game. In the evening all the groups were put through the blender, mixed and so new bonds and connections were formed during the Amazing Word Games. They surprised each other with the depth and breadth of their vocabulary knowledge!

Wednesday: day 4

Today was a sad day. Not during the day but in the evening. The students begged if they could watch the semi-finals of the European Championships, which we allowed because of their heart-felt desire and tear-stricken faces. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as they had hoped. They kept believing until the very last second but it was to no avail. It seemed like the downpour that had thwarted our daily football competition at 5.45 pm had been a divine omen of worse to come...

Fortunately for them, they had already had plenty of fun during the rest of the day. You can tell by their beaming faces and big smiles that they really enjoyed the dynamic lessons the teachers had prepared for them. At times it seems almost impossible to tell whether they enjoy the breaks or the lessons the most. Just kidding of course, they remain students. On to the next day, hopefully dressed to the nines for class picture day!

Thursday: day 5

Today was picture day! After our lovely singing session, in which their chorus of angelic voices (minus a few well-meaning roosters in the throat) reached a crescendo, it was time to face the sunny weather in their nicest clothes and to strike such a pose as would make Madonna envious. They topped off yet another interesting afternoon of lessons and touching speaking exercises with a trip to the bowling alley to show off their best skills. On to the next!

Friday: day 6

After another intense day of lessons, and the finale of the football competition, the students were unfortunately looking a bit too forward to the end of the course but after some tern talking-to, many found their way back again. Just in time for our Ruysschaert's got Talentshow. A fun-filled activity with quiz questions, activities to stimulate both brain and body and the announcement of the winners of the various competitions throughout the week. Time for the final day of the week to meet the parents at 16.30h!

Today it is already the last day of our English course in Tournai. The language adventure has flown by so fast! We have laughed, played and learned a lot. And all in a foreign language. We will gladly share all those beautiful moments in this way with our closing video.

Our sincere thanks to everyone for this fabulous week at Ruysschaert. You were fabulous!
